A katana is worn by those of an honored warrior class, symbolizing the strength and power that they commanded. Running 41 inches overall when housed in the lacquered high polished redwood saya (scabbard) with a koiguchi (scabbard mouth) that has been constructed from the finest buffalo horn, contrasting nicely against the dark redwood. The blade has been constructed from high carbon steel and retains a hand sharpened edge forged with real hamon line. The Redwood Shirasaya is decorated with a thick hi (blood groove) spanning nearly the entire blade length, constructed with authentic samurai full tang construction using real wood pegs. Included with the Ryumon Redwood Shirasaya is a large wooden display box (48Lx8Wx4H) bearing a dragon and kanji, cleaning kit, black cotton sword bag and informative reference guide. Measures 41 inches closed, 39.5 inches overall with a 29 inch blade length, 18/64 blade thickness. Weighing 2lbs and 12 ounces closed, and 1lb 14 ounces open.
